About SAINT

SAINT Professional Body for NDT

The South African Institute for Non-Destructive Testing (SAINT) Professional Body for NDT is a SAQA-recognized professional body dedicated to advancing Non-Destructive Testing across South Africa and the surrounding region.

Formed in 1968 as SAINT (the South African Institute for Non-Destructive Testing), we have worked for over 50 years to get NDT recognized as one of the engineering sciences. In September 2025, SAINT and the SAINT Professional Body for NDT merged to form a single, unified entity under the name SAINT Professional Body for NDT, combining our strengths to better serve the NDT community.

We are registered with SARS as a Non-Profit Organization and governed by our constitution and an annually elected Council where all members are volunteers.

Protecting the Public

As the governing body of a self-regulating professional NDT organisation, SAINT PB safeguards the public interest by ensuring members uphold high professional and ethical standards.

We do this by:

Regulating NDT professionals in practice
Conducting practice reviews
Managing a fair and transparent complaints and disciplinary process
Monitoring the use of professional designations
Enforcing a regulatory framework including a Code of Conduct and CPD requirements
