Eish has some tips for NDT Scope of Work Requirements:

Expected Defects

Are you going to inspect for Manufactured or In-Service defects?

a. Manufactured Related Defects –

What additional processing is going to take place before and after NDT? E.g. Forming, bending, grinding, machining and heat treatment etc.

In what condition are you going to find the component/s prior to NDT?

Note. Make sure that you know what sort of manufacturing related defects that you could find during the inspection of Castings, Forgings, Extrusions, and Welds etc.

b. In- Service Defects –

In what condition are you going to find the component/s prior to NDT?

Note. Make sure that you know what sort of In-Service defects that you could find during the inspection of Castings, Forgings, Extrusions, and Welds etc.

What would the possible implications be if a component should fail during service?
