With our thanks to Hennie de Wet.
Good day everybody.
MPI is a relatively simple method and the practical application is basic, we all know this.
Recently a technician was kicked off site simply because the yoke was not placed on the test surface with flat contacts touching the plate. The result is that another company got the contract to do MPI and re-test everything that was tested already. The first company did not get paid for their work.
Flat surfaces, people. When the yoke is used with only the corners “Cowboy style” touching the test piece, you are not going to see defects. Our clients know this – because good (Level III’s) tell them.
We have all tried to perform a lift-test with only the corners of the yoke touching – doesn’t work.
So here is the deal.
During my travels I instruct our clients to do three things when they see you performing MPI “Cowboy style”.
- Firstly to give you a klap.
- Then to chase you off site.
- Then to give your Level III a call, who will give you another klap.
Think about that for a while.
The client pays for the service that you deliver. If he is not happy, he will not pay.
Thanks guys.
Keep up the good work.
